This trial was implemented on a busy access ramp to the Boulevard Périphérique in Paris, close to a sports and shopping centre as well as office buildings.

Poor visibility of the pedestrian crossing for vehicles coming from the right
Frequent jaywalking and pedestrian crossings out of phase

OBJECTIVES

Reduce jaywalking and out of phase crossings
Reduce car driver pedestrian priority denials
Make the crossings feel safer with a special focus on PRMs

THE PROJECT

Flowell panels have been installed along the zebra crossing. The advanced stop line has also been equipped with Flowell panels. The system is synchronized with traffic signals

RESULTS

The compliance with priority rules was dramatically improved. The portion of non-compliant vehicles dropped from 33% to 6%
Feelings of safety also increased from 59% to 87%
